1.What are the pros and cons of using “Computer-Generated Slides (CGS)” in classrooms?
No lecture aid is perfect and with each type there are pros and cons. Positives and negatives depend on how computer generated slides are used and how the slides are put together. The use of Computer generated slides as a lecture aid can beneficial in enhancing auditory and visual stimuli and can be used to accomodate students with different learning styles. Computer generated slides prove to be entertaining and increase student attention and aid in recall of messages.
Cons:
Since computer generated slides can stimulate the learner, they may overstimulate and overwhelm the learner and decrease the abilty to retain information.
Student-teacher interactions may be compromised with the use of computer generated slides because instead of focusing on the teacher, the learner focuses solely on the slide being shown. Students may also focus on writing what is on the slide word for word rather than focusing on learning.
Pros:
-save and share presentations with class
-Students can use them as study aids
-Easier to organize information.
-Use same powerpoint year after year.
